Ways to Avoid PST File corruption in Outlook 2010

Avoid PST File Corruption Risks
Microsoft office has email application which is recognized as Microsoft Outlook. Outlook 2013 is surely an advanced version with latest features and utilities like social media connectivity, large storage of data on PST file, offline access of Outlook. For sure after knowing about such features Outlook seems to be very fabulous email application but there exist one problem

Problem is size limit of Outlook storage file i.e. Personal Storage Table PST file that I had already explained in my previous post.
Large sized Outlook data file (PST) leads to corruption easily. To know more about corruption reasons please follow my previous post. In my post I would share some points that will help user to save PST file from corruption. Different tricks and tips to avoid PST file corruption in Outlook 2007.

Instruction to save PST file from corruption

Manage PST File Size: Outlook 2010 and 2013 has predefined limit of PST file that is too much spacious and above 50 GB. No doubt PST file size limit is no blockade for Outlook users but still it is advised to keep PST file size less than 10 GB.

Reason: It’s a well-known fact that larger PST files corrupts more easily as compared to other files of Outlook. Moreover this will hampers Outlook speeds also and increases the chances of data loss. They will also take longer time for repair with no assurance of complete data recovery
For Outlook 2007 users using old format of PST i.e. ASCII format than maintain PST file size less than 2GB don’t exceed your PST file from 2GB size limitation even in Outlook 2007. Larger PST files will corrupts shortly.

Use small volume of emails: Email operations like select, copy, delete or move more than 10000 emails at a time will dead-lock outlook 2007 and further improper shutdown of system will surely results into corrupted PST file.

Proper Outlook Shutdown: In such hectic schedule it’s too tough to manage Outlook account. What we usually do to close out application is direct shutdown of Outlook. We just move cursor to CLOSE icon and do click. It’s very abnormal activity as while shutting down your system always consider that all programs are closed in proper way and there is no any application running in back ground. Improper shutdown often corrupts PST file.

Update Additional Software’s: It is very obvious we all are using internet services but most of us don’t know about the fact that Outlook PST file gets damaged due to virus attack also. It is true we installed antivirus software on our machine but due to lack of time and busy schedule we forgot to update our anti-virus programs.

It’s is necessary to do regular check of antivirus program we are using in our systems. Some emails can damage anti-virus program and further it can also corrupt emails so regular updates of Anti-virus application is necessary.

PST File Backup: Backup is best way to avoid data loss. While working with Outlook none of us know when our PST will file get corrupt. If somehow PST file gets corrupted and data loss situation appears then we can restore lost PST data from available backup straightforwardly.

It is for sure by applying above ways to avoid PST file corruption we can reduce the chance of PST file corruption in Outlook every version. However after taking care of these entire actions still we cannot avoid PST file damage or corruption completely.

Solution in case if Outlook PST got corrupt:

There is one more option to repair corrupt Outlook PST i.e. use of inbuilt repair tool scanpst.exe. This tool is available to user free of cost but still there exist some issues with this free PST repair tool.
